A Co-Founder’s Farewell
Following nearly a decade as partner and co-founder of Versado Training, I am officially transitioning out of Versado to re-embrace my Peace Corps-inspired roots and pursue rural development work in the mountains of North Carolina. Before I sign off, I want to share a brief reflection of my time here and why I love this company.
Similar to starting a family, building a company can be an exhilarating, exhausting, fulfilling, messy process. It requires a team of people committed to solving challenge after challenge and supporting one another amidst the zigs and zags and occasional drama inherent in launching an entrepreneurial venture. It can be easy to feel your initial zeal and optimism slipping away as daily battles wear you down. But again, similar to family, even on the tough days your love and sense of responsibility for the people beside you help you push through to do your best.
Being surrounded by the right people sustains your hope, your drive, and your satisfaction with having fully engaged the challenge of the day.
I am so very thankful for the people of Versado Training. I believe there is no smarter, more caring, more creative, more hilarious team out there. They are elite without being elitist. They are efficient without treating others like tools to be used and discarded. They are effective precisely because their designs and solutions consider the very real (busy, distracted, flawed, capable) human-beings engaged and empowered by them.
While I am proud of the outward markers of success this company has achieved – helping clients launch some of the world’s most innovative products, achieving exponential growth, winning awards for ethical business practices, etc. — I am proudest of this team’s depth of character in every human interaction.
This team’s blend of bright minds and bold hearts creates a ripple effect across the industry that goes deeper than products and services. It gives people permission to have fun, be human, and enjoy a sense of community, even at work.
I have been blessed by this unique Versado community. And I will do my best to pay it forward.
Thank you, Versado Team!!
